French Toast without Milk


  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 4 slices white bread
  • Directions

  • Step 1

    Beat eggs in a mixing bowl. Add sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg; mix.


  • Step 2

    Preheat a skillet over medium-low heat and melt butter.

  • Step 3

    Dip slices of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are covered. Cook 2 slices at a time in the skillet until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Serve warm.

  • Cook's Notes:

    I use a farmer’s white bread or Texas toast.

    You can use brown sugar instead of white for a change.

    You may need to stir the mixture before dipping the third and fourth slices as the spices may clump together.
