Pressure-Cooker Apple Pie Steel-Cut Oatmeal

  • Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 1-1/2 cups steel-cut oats
  • 1-1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large apple, chopped
  • Optional toppings: Sliced apples and toasted pecans
  • Directions

  • In a 6-qt. electric pressure cooker, combine the first 7 ingredients. Lock lid; close pressure-release valve. Adjust to pressure-cook on high for 5 minutes. Let pressure release naturally. Press cancel.
  • Stir in chopped apple. Let stand 10 minutes before serving (oatmeal will thicken upon standing). If desired, top servings with sliced apples, pecans and additional syrup.
