Christmas looked differently last year as many Britons were separated from their families due to the coronavirus pandemic. That is why Aldi is giving people the chance to celebrate the holiday again – but in June.

Aldi took to social media this week to announce that it will be celebrating Junemas next month.

The discount retailer said on Twitter: “Let’s be honest, last Christmas didn’t have our hearts, and sleigh bells weren’t ringing like they usually do.

“Time for round two! Just one thing. It’s in June.”

The supermarket added: “Introducing Junemas. Mark your calendars for June 25th and look out for some surprises instore! #AldiJunemas.”

As part of the Junemas celebrations, Aldi is reintroducing some customer festive favourites to stores.

These include mince pies, which will be on sale from 21 June.

Aldi’s mini mince pies will be available in packs of 12, costing £1.79.

Customers have already expressed their excitement at the news and the German retailer’s Twitter posts have received over a thousand comments each.

One Aldi fan wrote: “This is awesome and has really cheered me up! We had a rubbish Christmas when Boris said we couldn’t travel to London. I hope I can get a festive caterpillar cake too! Brilliant!”

Another added: “This has made my day!!! Sod the diet, bring on the mince pies.”

One person joked: “Yah, awesome, can we have Cuthbert dressed as Santa please.”

Other shoppers hoped that Aldi would bring back other Christmas treats too, as well as mince pies.

One customer asked: “Having Christmas puddings on too?”

Aldi confirmed that it will be bringing back more Christmas products and it asked the public to vote for their favourite festive food.

In a Twitter post, the supermarket wrote: “Crave your festive faves all year round? Well, now it’s your chance to bring some of those back just in time for #AldiJunemas. Vote to save your fave below.”

The four items that Aldi fans could vote for were pigs in blankets, turkey, carrots, and Christmas pudding.

At the time of writing, pigs in blankets were in the lead with 75.2 percent of the votes, while carrots were the least popular product with 3.8 percent of the votes.

One Twitter user wrote: “I’d have pigs in blankets with every roast if I could.”

Other customers noted other products that Aldi could introduce to its Junemas range. One person wrote: “Bring back cranberry sauce. I’m down to my last jar.”

One Aldi fan wrote: “Where’s the sprouts on this list?”

Another added: “I’m appalled that you didn’t include Brussel sprouts, you heathens!”
