Meat and fish dishes at his Dinner by Heston Blumenthal restaurant are not much more: roast cod and cockle ketchup costs £56, and powdered duck breast is £58.

One Tripadvisor diner rated the pricey veg as “excellent”, adding: “Each dish was perfectly presented and tasted faultless.” Another said: “It was good but I didn’t expect it to be almost as expensive as the meat dishes.”

Michelin-starred Dinner operates inside the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel in London. It was fifth out of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in Restaurant magazine and its menu is inspired by culinary history.
