Food recall warnings are issued when a food product is thought to be unsafe for consumers. These are the latest updates from Iceland, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Aldi.

Iceland

Twix Barres Glacées (Twix Ice-Cream Bars)

The retailer has issued a warning for those who have been shopping in stores.

The frozen treat contains ingredients not mentioned on the label, which could cause a potential health risk.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) website said: “Iceland is recalling Twix Barres Glacées (Twix Ice-Cream Bars) because they contain milk, wheat (gluten) and soya which are not mentioned in English on the label.

“They may contain almonds and hazelnuts (nuts) and peanuts.”

This would make the product dangerous for anyone who has an allergy or intolerance to milk, nuts, wheat or soya.

Packs of 18 bars with the best before date of June 30, 2021 have been recalled.

A notice from Iceland stated: “All consumers who have bought this product with the above date code should not consume them.

“Please return to any Iceland store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”

Asda, Sainsbury’s and Aldi

British Lion eggs

The FSA has also offered a warning for eggs that are sold in those supermarkets.

It has shared updated advice on certain batches of eggs that could cause the risk of salmonella.

A post on the FSA website stated: “The FSA is issuing precautionary advice to consumers who have purchased a specific batch of British Lion eggs which may be contaminated with salmonella.

“Affected eggs can be identified by the batch code and the best before date stamped on the eggshell.”

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause vomiting, fever and abdominal cramps.

Affected packs can have any best before date up until November 20 and are sold in stores in England and Wales only.

Customers have been asked to store and cook the eggs properly to avoid the risk of illness.

As a precaution, the packs can be returned to the stores where they were bought for a refund.
