General Mills Recalls Gold Medal Unbleached All-Purpose Flour Nationwide for Possible E.Coli Contamination

General Mills has issued a voluntary recall for its five-pound bags of Gold Medal Unbleached All Purpose Flour after E.coli was discovered during random sample testing. There have been no reported illnesses related to this recall to date, but consumers are encouraged to check their pantries for this specific product and dispose of it immediately.

The product under recall has a "Better If Used By" date of September 6, 2020 and Package UPC Code: 016000 196100. Those with questions can contact General Mills Consumer Relations at 1-800-230-8103.

While most strains of E.coli are harmless, they can cause illness or death in some situations. If you are experiencing bloody diarrhea, dehydration or believe you have consumed the recalled product, it's worth contacting your doctor as soon as possible.

Additionally, General Mills reminds consumers that flour is not a ready-to-eat product and must be properly cooked in order to be safe for consumption. Flour is generally not treated to kill bacteria during the milling process.
