    DIRECTIONS

  • If you don’t like a heavy celery flavor, saute the carrots and celery in a pot for a few minutes until softened. Then add 4 cups water and go to step two.
  • 1. Add celery and carrots to a pot with the water. and cover with lid.
  • 2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Then reduce to a simmer and simmer 5 minutes.
  • 3. Add the potatoes, simmer another 5 minutes.
  • 4. Add the onion and simmer 5 minutes more. Meanwhile, whisk the cornstarch into the half-and-half.
  • 5. Add the ham and half-and-half mixture. Stir, then heat until thickened, stirring occasionally. Ass salt and pepper to taste.
