A fast food fan has taken to TikTok to show the “best way to eat McDonald’s” with a simple fry hack, however, it’s caused some controversy in the comments section. TikTok page @healthyjunkfood shares food hacks and reviews with an audience of 1.1M followers.

The user says the simple drive-through hack not only means fries are served “hot and fresh”, but it also makes for a “better” experience when dining on the go.

The man behind @healthyjunkfood explained: “Next time you hit up the drive-through ask for a medium fry with no salt.

“We all know they will make it fresh and hot this way, but the new hack is when you roll up to the window and politely ask them for a medium cup and salt packets.

“Pour a few salt packets into the cup, dump in your fries and shake them up.

“With the residual oil, the salt will stick to the fries nicely giving you hot, fresh salted fries.”

As well as helping to add plenty of salt to the freshly cooked fries, the user also explains how the cup makes for a handy container while on the move.

He explained: “You can also secure the fries in the cup holder in your car. How convenient.”

If you’ve opted for a burger, the empty carton from the fries can double up as a burger holder, ensuring no ingredients are lost while in transit.

@healthyjunkfood said: “Well, that is the perfect size to hold your double cheeseburger in.

“Now you never have to lose any toppings.

“I honestly can’t think of a better way to eat McDonald’s on the go.”

Despite this, some users in the comment section don’t think the hack is necessary.

A McDonald’s employee commented on the viral video: “I work at McDonald’s bro, they [are] usually always fresh. I work morning and night.” [SIC]

User Benjamin Grant, who also works for the fast food giant, added: “I work at McDonald’s and we hate it when we are in a rush and have to make a brand new batch of fries but if there is no rush then we are just fine.”

Viewers also pointed out that the hack isn’t necessarily needed.

TikTok user @misao9916 said: “You can also just ask for the fries to be [cooked] to order. They put them down when you order.” [SIC]
