M&S has launched a new summer cocktail in a can and it’s just £2

M&S is well known for its canned cocktail range which commuters often grab to go as they head home for work on a Friday night. But the food giant has now added to its range with a new twist on the Passion Star Martini to keep the nation happy as they stay at home.

The bestselling M&S Passion Star Martini has been updated with a fruity twist as a new pink version has gone on sale.

The new flavour adds raspberries to the existing mix of passionfruit and vanilla for a refreshing new take on the classic.

The latest launch is available in stores now and costs just £2 a can.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the brand said it had had a ‘cheeky summer makeover’ and likened the taste to raspberry ripple ice cream.

Followers were delighted with the news, with one commenting: “Hat’s off to the genius who thought of that.” [sic]

The new pink drinks have already had thousands of likes on the Instagram post.

The original cocktail is a cheap and cheerful version of the so-called pornstar martini, a sweet passion fruit-based drink made with vanilla vodka and often served with a shot of prosecco.

While the nation won’t be able to enjoy the new drink outside like normal with a bozzy park picnic, locked down Britons will no doubt be pleased to have a taste of summer to enjoy among the doom and gloom.

With pubs still closed and social distancing restrictions in place following the extension of lockdown for at least another three weeks, alcohol is one of the ways those who are stuck at home are keeping spirits up.

As Zoom calls and video chats become the new way to have a social life, many are adapting by pouring themselves a glass of their favourite drink as staying in becomes the new going out.

The perfect tipple to enjoy in the garden this summer, the £2 drink contains two measures of vodka and comes in the signature M&S cocktail can.

Though it’s not available online, shoppers can pick up a tin or two when they pick up their lockdown food essentials in the M&S food hall.

At such a cheap price it’s worth stocking up – and the tin packaging means the drinks will last well beyond the summer.

The new fruity flavour is ideal for anyone hoping to enjoy a barbecue now that the weather’s turned.

The original M&S Passion Star Martini launched in September 2018 and swiftly moved up the ‘cocktails in a can’ best sellers list.

It even took over the nation’s favourite G&T to become the number one in the country.

As well as the new cocktail launch, M&S has announced new limited edition bags for life that have been created to support the NHS.

All of the profits from the new 20p bags will be donated to NHS Charities Together.

The new design features a rainbow and heart as well as a ‘thank you’ message as a symbol of unity, and to show gratitude to the frontline key workers who are saving lives every day.

The new bags are available in stores now so shoppers can thank the NHS heroes while they pick up their essentials.
