Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s critical recall – Aptamil baby food contains pieces of plastic

The Aptamil Multigrain Banana & Berry Cereal is being recalled after it was found to potentially pose severe health risks. Small blue pieces of plastic in the product make dangerous to babies.

The Food Standards Agency said: “Nutricia is recalling Aptamil Multigrain Banana and Berry Cereal 7+ months because it may contain small pieces of blue plastic.

“The presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat.”

Pack size 200g

Best before 07 July 2021

The company has put point of sale notices for customers where the product is being sold.

They read: “The blue plastic is clearly visible in contract to the cereal.

“If you have fed your baby from one of the packs without noticing any pieces, it is very likely your pack was no affected.

“No other batches of this product or any other Aptamil products are affected.”

What should you do if you have bought the product?

Check your packet is affected, it will have the best before date 07.07.21.

If the packet is affected return the product to the store, with or without a receipt, for a full refund.

The product usually retails for around £3.

A number of other food recalls have been made over the past week. 

Lidl is recalled a meatball product containing milk which is not listed on the ingredient list.

This would pose a risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

The error occurred due to a mix up with packaging, Lidl has confirmed.

In other food news, McDonald’s Christmas menu 2020 has been unveiled. 

McDonald’s has doubled the magic this year with the Double Big Mac Meal. Indulge in four burgers, a slice of cheese, lettuce, onion and pickles, and of course not forgetting the famous Big Mac sauce.

For those with a sweet tooth, the new Celebrations McFlurry is a festive treat.

Soft dairy ice cream, swirled with Maltesers clusters, Galaxy chocolate drops, Caramel pieces, Mars Nuggets and Twix biscuits, topped with a milk chocolate sauce will be on offer.
