Doctor Nisa Aslam and nutritionist Suzie Sawyer revealed that six in 10 adults in England are overweight or obese but luckily, the New Year is the perfect opportunity to get in good shape. They explained that a combination of amino acids, vitamins and botanicals can make weight loss “a little bit easier”. 

The healthy combination can be found in supplements and vitamins such as Aminoscience Metabolism Support capsules, which the doctors recommended.

Amino acids are the proteins in our body which support the production of peptide-based hormones, which play a part in regulating blood glucose, appetite and satiety, and therefore, help people speed up the weight loss process.

Foods that contain all nine amino acids include beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, soy, quinoa and buckwheat, as well as nuts, seeds, beans and some grains.

Nutritionist Suzie Sawyer added that there is “fascinating clinical evidence” indicating that dietary leucine supplementation can reduce obesity, decrease arterial blood pressure, resist oxidation and normalise blood vessel dysfunction.

In essence, amino acids make you feel fuller while stopping you from feeling hungry and play a key role in helping regulate thyroid hormones which work on “body weight regulation, mainly through regulating energy expenditure,” explained Suzie Sawyer.

“Both men and women can be affected by thyroid dysfunction but women are more affected, particularly during menopause.”

Around the time of menopause, women often find they gain weight and falling oestrogen levels at this time do seem to promote fat storage in the belly area, known as visceral fat.
