‘Never felt happier’ Woman loses huge 5st with changes to diet
Adeeti had diabetes due to her weight and unhealthy lifestyle, but following her transformation, she reversed her type 2 diabetes and now leads a much healthier – and happier – life. This is thanks to making slight changes to her diet and exercise regime.
When Adeeti started putting on weight after giving birth, both her physical and mental health deteriorated.
She said: “I would look at myself and think ‘I look so fat, I have a double chin’ and I would dress in black to try and hide my rolls.
“I was eating more than 3,000 calories a day. A typical day included sweets, rice, potatoes, a full Asian meal for dinner every evening and then finishing off my kids’ leftovers.
“I used to think, who cares, it’s a mum’s life – I had accepted this was me now so I didn’t want to moan about it.”

However, Adeeti started to notice a decline in her health. She continued: “I began feeling ill. I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I was always dizzy and constantly had a headache.”
Following a visit to her GP, Adeeti discovered that she was “on the brink of diabetes and I would have to start taking medication if I didn’t lose weight immediately”.
“I knew my eating had got out of control but I didn’t imagine in my wildest dreams I would be at risk of getting diabetes at such a young age,” she said. “I had a young family and everything to live for, so I knew something had to change.”
The mum-of-two went on to explain how she started to attempt to lose weight by looking up diets and meal plans on Google. “I tried everything but the weight loss was slow,” she said.

“I’d lose some, gain some and it felt like I kept getting stuck in the same place.”
Eventually, Adeeti came across The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, saying: “I’d never actually tried a proper set diet before and was itching to start losing weight for good. I wanted to be able to walk around in a dress and look good in what I was wearing. I wanted to throw away all my baggy clothes.
“Standing on the scales at my consultation and seeing I was the biggest I had ever been at 14-and-a-half stone was devastating.”
Adeeti’s consultant, Deborah Adams, suggested a plan for her and assured her she would be there to support her every step of the way.
The slimmer explained how she was “dreading day one of the diet”.
“I had so many thoughts running through my head in the first week and was afraid it wouldn’t work for me,” she said.
“That’s where Deborah really helped, messaging me daily with motivation and I began to believe I could do this. A week after starting, I stepped on the scales and had lost eight pounds. I was over the moon – I really couldn’t believe it. I felt so much happier and began to really believe that the diet was going to work for me.
“It really motivated me to stick to it and I kept pushing myself until I had lost three stone. I began to receive compliment after compliment. I was on such a high and couldn’t have been happier.”
As the weight came off, Adeeti started to feel more and more confident and, as a consequence, bought new clothes to reflect her figure – she started to feel like her old self. Adeeti’s mood was lifted even higher when she went to see her GP again and they said she “showed no signs of diabetes”.
“I was ecstatic and called Deborah to share the good news – we were both jumping for joy,” Adeeti explained. “My happiness was hers and that made all the difference along this journey. I was finally back in control.”
She went on to share other joyful anecdotes, saying: “I had my brother’s wedding. Traditionally Asian women are petite, so the trendy outfits never used to fit me. This time I was able to fit into a beautiful traditional outfit with a top that showed my tummy and I felt so confident in myself. On holiday I was able to wear shorts and cute dresses. I felt proud about what I had achieved and I couldn’t dream of letting myself get back to the 14 stone that I had been previously.
“I’ve never felt so confident and so happy. Every day is another chance to get stronger, eat better, live healthier and be the best version of yourself. I am so grateful for the opportunities The 1:1 Diet has given me and the chance to take back control and be my best self again,” Adeeti added.
