Nigella has discussed her approach to food on numerous occasions. She has emphasised that she does not diet.

She told fans in a recent interview: “Lockdown showed people who don’t consider themselves confident cooks, that cooking is all about improvisation. It gave them confidence.

“You are not talking about making showstoppers. You’re talking about cobbling things together to make supper.”

She claimed lockdown is helping Britons focus on and enjoy their food.

“I think we all learned over lockdown that thinking about what to eat, cooking it, sitting down to what we’ve cooked, really gave a focus to our lives that we were grateful for,” Nigella told the Daily Star Sunday.

While Nigella has always disavowed dieting and a restrictive food lifestyle, she has lost weight herself in previous years.

The chef slimmed from size 16 to size 12, although she has told radio listeners on Women’s Hour her weight is “up and down”.

She also told the programme she disavows the “clean eating” fad as it makes it seem as though “any other form of eating is dirty or shameful.”

However, Nigella has added various healthy foods to her diet to help her boost her health.

The chef added that exercising in a way she enjoys is important to her.

She went on: “I have to do something I enjoy, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.”

Nigella told Good Housekeeping: “The older I get the more I realise I have got to do lots of stretching. So even if I’m not doing yoga, I make myself do lots of stretching.

“As you get on in life, you value feeling well as opposed to looking well. Yoga certainly makes you feel great, and you want to carry on feeling great. I just do a bit in a very slow way – sometimes lying down.”

Another British TV regular, A Place in the Sun Laura Hamilton’s diet and fitness regimen helped her lose five stone.

“I cut out a lot of sugar and carbs and since then I’ve tried to stick to a low sugar diet,” Laura told
