Sheridan Smith is now taking part in the new Channel 4 series The Teacher. But when did her weight loss journey start?

Sheridan posted a before-and-after picture on social media saying: “I’m not one for weight loss regimes as I think everyone should be comfortable in their own skin.

“I have lost two stone!”

The star, 40, reportedly lost weight in just 14 weeks thanks to her role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph the Musical back in 2019.

Sheridan explained she had to rehearse for hours every day, which included spending a lot of time dancing.

Exercising often, and combining it with a healthy and balanced diet, helps burn calories and slim down faster.

In particular, dancing has been proven to be one of the most effective weight loss exercises.

According to Healthline, dancing regularly improves the blood flow, reduces stress levels and contributes to weight loss.

Some activities are more effective than others and aerobic routines such as Zumba help burn calories faster.

Zumba is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dances and is a fun exercise loved by many.

According to Mayo Clinic, the routine can reduce health risks, help maintain a healthy weight, strengthen your heart and boost your mood.

“If you enjoy Zumba, you’re also more likely to do it regularly and experience its benefits as an aerobic exercise,” the site stated.

Dr Jo Rodda added: “Studies have shown that the occurrence of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease can be reduced by exercises such as dancing.

“Not only is it fun, social and engaging, but it’s also a great way of incorporating exercise into your weekly routine.

“Learning and remembering new steps activates many neural pathways in your brain, keeping it strong, active and healthy,” she told Health Wellbeing.

Sheridan has continued to eat healthily and exercise to stay in shape.

Since 2019, the star managed to maintain her weight and looks better than ever.

Sheridan was in a relationship with insurance broker Jamie after they met on dating app Tinder in 2018.

The couple soon got engaged and had a child together: Billy.

However, last year the couple announced their separation: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart,” they said.
