Pairing this with an exercise routine can speed up results but all workouts are not equal.
The amount of calories a dieter burns can vary based on factors such as their weight, age and metabolism.
However, opting for cardio exercises can be the best for burn calories, Abbie Watkins, personal trainer from OriGym Centre of Excellence, told Express.co.uk.
What are the best exercises for weight loss?
High Intensity Interval Training
Abbie said: “High intensity interval training training (HIIT) is a brilliant way to burn a lot of calories.
“HIIT workouts can burn just as many calories as classic cardio exercises like running and swimming in a fraction of the time.
“HIIT training involves a series of different exercises, trained at a high intensity for short periods of time.
“Cardio exercises that double up as a full-body workout are the best for calorie-burning.”
Burpees
“Burpees are an intense full-body exercise, they’re a brilliant cardio exercise and they also require a lot of work from your muscles,” she added.
“This maximises their benefits for burning calories and shredding fat. Burpees are a sure-fire way to improve your fitness and get in shape.”

Mountain climbers
The expert explained: “Mountain climbers are another killer exercise that will burn a lot of calories, especially when they’re part of a HIIT workout.
“This is a really efficient exercise because it requires a lot of work from your core muscles, engages your full-body, and gets your heart racing.”
As well as going for cardio moves to get the heart rate up, the exercises will also work the whole body.
Abbie explained: “Full-body exercises are really effective because they involve a lot of different muscles.
“The more muscles engaged during an exercise, the more energy you’ll use, and the more calories you will burn.”
Combining regular exercise with a healthy eating plan can speed up the weight loss results, she suggested.
