Apple sauce

When you can’t get to the shop and you have apples that need using up. I’m using this under pork pieces for a casserole. I also use red apples .


  1. 2 medium green apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  2. 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  3. 1/4 teaspoon mixed spice
  4. 1 tablespoon lemon juice


  1. Method
    Place apple, Caster Sugar, mixed spice, lemon juice and 1/4 cup cold water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes or until tender.

  2. Transfer mixture to a food processor. Process until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
