Taco Dogs??

This recipe is in one of my daughter’s cookbooks. She wanted to try them out and they turned out to be pretty yummy. Recipe adapted from: the Good Housekeeping Kids Cook! cookbook.

Ingredients

  1. 1 tbsp. olive oil
  2. 1/2 lb. ground beef
  3. 1/2 cup salsa verde
  4. 2 tsp. chili powder
  5. 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  6. 6 hot dogs
  7. 6 hot dog buns
  8. Shredded lettuce
  9. Shredded cheese
  10. Crushed tortilla chips

Steps

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once its hot, add the beef. Cook, breaking it up as you go, until it is browned. Drain any fat. Pour the salsa verde into the skillet and stir in the seasonings. Then turn the heat to low to keep it heated while you prepare your hotdogs.

  2. Heat a pot of water over high heat. Once it reaches a boil, add the hot dogs and cook them about 6-7 minutes. Then drain them.

  3. To serve, scoop the hot dogs into the buns, then top with some of the meat mixture. From there, top with whatever toppings sound good. We like shredded lettuce, shredded cheese and crushed tortilla chips.
